ABOUT US
A TRADITIONAL PUB SERVING GOOD FOOD AND ALES
From 2 December 2020....WE ARE NOW A RESTAURANT
So there is no confusion this is from the government web site....
Tier 2: High alert
-
you must not socialise with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place
-
you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space – this is called the ‘rule of 6’
-
businesses and venues can continue to operate, in a COVID-Secure manner.
-
pubs and bars must close, unless operating as restaurants. Hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals
-
hospitality businesses selling food or drink for consumption on their premises are required to:
-
provide table service only, in premises which sell alcohol
-
Among other things this means we are unable to open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day for the usual festive drinks however we will be offering a gourmet set menu on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve; details to follow.
Our "substantial meals" will start from £5.
We did consider not opening for the forseeable future as we don't know if there will be sufficient business to make it worthwhile but we'll try it and see how it goes. It also depends on people's attitude. Please don't try to be clever and try and make out a packet of crisps is a substantial meal - it's not. And your Christmas bubble does not count as your support bubble. We are as tired of this as you are but it is what it and we need to make the best of it. Be happy, be positive and look forward to 2021........
....when you be able to hire our fabulous new luxury motorhome. See details at MOTORHOME FOR HIRE.
Tucked away at the end of a quiet country lane, with a big garden overlooking water meadows, it is a ten minute drive from Salisbury but feels like a thousand miles from the noise and bustle of the city.
The pub is just off the A338, (one mile north of the Laverstock roundabout) or can be reached by foot or bicycle from Old Sarum, Hampton Park, Long Hedges and Bishopdown Farm along country paths and bridleways. The location makes it a popular destination for walkers and cyclists as well as those exploring Figsbury Ring. There are many walks and rides from the pub including a pleasant 20 minute walk ideal before or after your meal. (maps available) it's also a good area for birdwatchers - we are up to 65 species so far from Little Egret to Cetti's Warbler!
There is a fence to hitch up horses, we are dog friendly and have a pub dog Tilda. She was originally supposed to be a foster dog from Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue but in the end we couldn't let her go. When you meet her you will see why - she is adorable! We still foster other dogs from Hungary from time to time. (for more info see www.hungaryheartsdogrescue.co.uk)
